Ian Holloway has been named as the League Two Manager of the Month for January after Swindon Town’s sparkling rise up the table.
Swindon began 2025 in hot form to move away from the threat of relegation as they picked up four wins and a draw from their six matches, aided by groundsman Matt Povey successfully keeping all of their games on during a taxing month of weather conditions.
The month began with a memorable last-minute win over Colchester United as George Cox’s stoppage-time penalty righted the wrongs of the reverse fixture a month earlier during a late comeback from 2-1 down.
Following a defeat at Notts County and a draw against Crewe Alexandra where they could easily have got more, Town ground out a victory against Barrow before going to Newport County and earning a big win.
It was a similar picture in the final game of the month as Swindon made it three wins in a row against Tranmere Rovers having trailed in the 86th minute but going on to win the game courtesy of Paul Glatzel, Harry Smith, and Kabongo Tshimanga firing home late goals.
Holloway becomes the fourth Swindon manager to win the award, coincidentally it is also the fourth time a current Town boss has won it, following Dennis Wise, Paolo Di Canio, and Richie Wellens.
A judging panel which included former Town boss Danny Wilson, and also Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman decided on Holloway over Graham Alexander, Johnnie Jackson, and Grant McCann.
